Week 11 Tasting: Saldo Zinfandel

Tasting:  Saldo Zinfandel

Name: Saldo

Variety: Zinfandel

Region:  Sonoma Valley California

Country: USA

Year: 2019

Price: $35

Winery Review: The 2019 Zinfandel gushes forward with excellent power without taking over the palate. This remarkable wine offers a lasting impression of palate pleasures. This wine offers alluring aromas and flavors of black fruit, savory spices, licorice. And oak. Serve it with roast duck topped with cassis sauce. (93- Wine.com)

Wine Folly:  Pg 189 A fruit-forward yet bold red that’s loved for its jammy fruit and smokey, exotic spice notes. It also has a blackberry and strawberry taste and aroma. This is also ideal with Turkish, Moroccan, and Arabic cuisine, which bring out the grape’s cinnamon like spices.

My review: The aromas from this wine was fruity and woody. The fruity flavors I could smell are blackberry and strawberry. Now this wine tased fantastic. This wine had a little spice to it but also had a great fruity flavor with strawberry and blackberry. This wine also had an oak buttery taste as well. It also had a very smooth finish. This was my favorite zinfandel wine I’ve tasted so far. I am usually not a fan of red wines, but this was just too good. I highly recommend trying this wine.

I had no food when tasting
