week 9 Tasting 19 Crimes Cali Red

I thought the cork looked cool that's why I added a picture of it.

Tasting:  19 Crimes Cali Red

Name: 19 Crimes Cali Red

Variety: Blend Petite Syrah and Zinfandel

Region: Sonoma, California

Country: United States

Year: 2020

Price: $15

Winery Review: Cali Red is an opaque, dark purple color. Aromas of very ripe mixed fruit, accented with distinct American oak aromas of vanilla and smoke. The palate is full and dense with strong black and blue fruit notes up front from the Petite Sirah, couple ended by bright red, slightly candied fruit in the background from the Zinfandel. The darkly toasted oak ties it all together with a slightly sweet finish. (Winemakers notes on wine.com)

Wine Folly: Pg 189 A fruit-forward yet bold red that’s loved for its jammy fruit and smokey, exotic spice notes. It also has a blackberry and strawberry taste and aroma. Pg 147 Petite Syrah is loved for its deeply colored wines with rich black fruit flavors and bold tannins.

My review: First of all, who is not going to buy a wine with Snoop Dogs face on it? This wine may have been one of my favorite red wines that I have tried so far. This was a sweet red wine which surprised me because the alcohol volume was high. The aromas were just remarkable as well. I could smell the aromas of strawberry and blackberry probably from the zinfandel. I could also get hints of blueberry from the Petite Syrah. The taste on the other hand was just remarkable. The blend of all the fruits together tastes like a heavy fruit juice with a tad bit of spice.  Overall, this wine was very good and if you like Snoop Dog the bottle will make a good collector’s item.

I had no food when tasting
