Tasting:  Saldo Zinfandel   Name: Saldo Variety: Zinfandel   Region:   Sonoma Valley California Country: USA Year: 2019 Price: $35 Winery Review: The 2019 Zinfandel gushes forward with excellent power without taking over the palate. This remarkable wine offers a lasting impression of palate pleasures. This wine offers alluring aromas and flavors of black fruit, savory spices, licorice. And oak. Serve it with roast duck topped with cassis sauce. (93- Wine.com) Wine Folly:   Pg 189 A fruit-forward yet bold red that’s loved for its jammy fruit and smokey, exotic spice notes. It also has a blackberry and strawberry taste and aroma. This is also ideal with Turkish, Moroccan, and Arabic cuisine, which bring out the grape’s cinnamon like spices. Tasting:   St. Kilda Brut Cuvee Name: St. Kilda Variety: blend 80% Chardonnay and 20 % Pinot Noir Region:   Southeastern Australia Country: Australia Year: 2020 Price: $10 Winery Review: Classic blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20 % Pinot Noir. Very pale straw appearance with aromas of fresh cut lemon and subtle green apple surrounded by rising dough. A generous mousse reveals quite tight and complex palate of fresh buttered toast and a citrus freshness. Charmat method. ( Vintage Cellar) Wine Folly: Pg. 150 pinot noir is the world’s most popular light bodied red is loved for its red fruit and spice flavors that are accentuated by a long, smooth, soft tannin finish. Tasting:   Belasco de Baquedano Llama Malbec Old Vined Name: Belasco de Baquedano Variety: Malbec Region:   Mendoza Country: Argentina Year: 2019 Price: $15 Winery Review: This young Malbec shows tannin tension that gives it form. Its medium- bodies with blackberry and brambleberry flavors and hints of hazelnuts. Some tar. Fresh finish. Enjoy a creamy texture. (92-Jmaes Suckling)   Wine Folly: Pg. 125 Argentina’s most important variety came by way of France, where its commonly called Cot. Wines are loved for their bold fruit flavors and smooth chocolaty finish. Malbecs also go well with leaner red meats and does wonders with melted blue cheese. Pg 198 The majority of Argentina’s vineyards are located at the base of the Andes mountains, in an area with both ample sunshine and snowmelt for irrigation.   Tasting:   Esser Chardonnay Name:   Esser Chardonnay Variety: Chardonnay Region: Monterey California Country: USA Year: 2018 Price: $13 Winery Review: Esser Vineyards Chardonnay contains aromatic hints of tropical fruits with accents of citrus and lemon blossom. Flavor notes of lemon curd, pineapple, and vanilla are followed by the pleasantry crisp finish. It is rich and round on the palate and complemented by ample acidity.   Tasting:   Bellafina Prosecco Name: Bellafina Prosecco Variety: Prosecco Region: Veneto, Northeast Italy Country: Italy Year: 2020 Price: $9 Winery Review: This sparkling boasts pretty aromas of white spring flowers, peach and whiff of Alpine herbs. On the palate, green apple and yellow pear abound while citrus zest and hint of sage provide back up. (Vintage Cellar) Wine Folly: Pg 256 Prosecco uses the tank method to produce a fruity sparkling wine meant to be drunk in its youth. Pg 155 Italy’s most sparkling wine is created with glera grapes grown in Veneto and Friuli- Venezia giulia. My review: Back to my favorite kind of wine and that being sparkling wine. This was a very good wine. I enjoyed every sip of this wine. The aromas were just what I expected and could get strong hints of green apple. I could also taste the green apple and some honey dew. I thought the cork looked cool that's why I added a picture of it.  Tasting:  19 Crimes Cali Red Name: 19 Crimes Cali Red Variety: Blend   Petite Syrah and Zinfandel Region: Sonoma, California Country: United States   Year: 2020 Price: $15 Winery Review: Cali Red is an opaque, dark purple color. Aromas of very ripe mixed fruit, accented with distinct American oak aromas of vanilla and smoke. The palate is full and dense with strong black and blue fruit notes up front from the Petite Sirah, couple ended by bright red, slightly candied fruit in the background from the Zinfandel. The darkly toasted oak ties it all together with a slightly sweet finish. (Winemakers notes on wine.com) Wine Folly: Pg 189 A fruit-forward yet bold red that’s loved for its jammy fruit and smokey, exotic spice notes. It also has a blackberry and strawberry taste and aroma. Pg 147 Petite Syrah is loved for its deeply colored wines with rich black fruit flavors and bold tannins. My review

Tasting:   David Finlayson The Pepper pot Name: David Finlayson The Pepper pot Variety: Blend of Mourvèdre, Tannat, and   Syrah Region: Stellenbosch, South Africa Country: South Africa   Year: 2018 Price: $15 Winery Review: Great Value from David Finlayson, This is almost (Almost) South African equivalent of a Cotes du Rhone blend, marrying Syrah with of Mourvèdre, Tannat, Cinsault, Grenache, and Carignan. Light, floral and spicy, with a hint of wood, red berry fruit and subtle reduction. 2020-2023 (Tim Atkins) Wine Folly: Pg. 133 monastrell (Mourvèdre) is a deeply bold, smokey red wine found in abundance in central Spain. Its known as Mourvèdre in Southern France. Where its an essential grape for Rhone/GSM blend. Pg 172 Syrah is a rich powerful, and sometimes meaty red wine that originated in the Rhone valley of France. Pg 174 Tannat has some of the highest polyphenois of all red wines. My review: This was probably one of the most unique wines I have ever tasted.

Tasting: Villa Poggio Salvi Merlot week 7

Tasting:   Villa Poggio Salvi Merlot Name: Villa Poggio Salvi Variety: Merlot Region: Tuscany, Italy Country: Italy Year: 2019 Price: $16 Winery Review: A fresh, fine-tannined red with blackcurrants, walnuts and hints of thyme that follow through to a medium body with a fresh, pretty finish. Drink or hold (James Suckling) Wine Folly: Pg. 131 Merlot is loved for its boisterous black cherry flavors, supple tannins, and smokey or chocolate finish. Its often found in a Bordeaux blend with cabernet franc. Pg 258. Central Italy includes Tuscany and is known as red wine country. My review: This Merlot from Italy was very good. The aromas that I could hint was a fruity aroma almost like a wild berry. The medium red tasted very well with a decent fruity and berry taste with a hint of a nutty aftertaste. This wine was a little dry for my liking, but the finish was quite smooth. I think this wine would go well during Christmas time around a nice warm fire. The reason I say
